deviantID

Hi, I'm 20 years old, a student at Susquehanna University...that's in Pennsylvania, US, for those who haven't heard of it (not many people have). I study Creative Writing here, and I love it. I'm on DeviantART because I like to dabble in the world of amateur photography, and by that I mean I always have a camera with me and I take way too many snapshots. I think that a lot of my pictures on here are just goofy, me messing around with a camera, but every once and a while I get one that comes out a lot better. I just upgraded from a Canon Powershot SD1100 to a Canon Powershot G10 (VERY happy about that) as a step toward learning and understanding more about photography.

A Stray Kitten, Never Known

A Stray Kitten, Never Known

Snowflake, you lie nameless
But Snowflake I call you.
So small and delicately beautiful
Stiffly sleeping
You are not breathing.
Your softness, contradicted by the cold
So young, unfairly robbed of life
Born only to melt away.
And your life, so short lived
Cannot have been so divine.
Your bones, showing through your skin
Malnourished, you sweet thing
Soon you would have died.
But, Snowflake, your end so swiftly came;
There must not have been any pain:
At least none so strong as
That of your hunger,
Snowflake, you poor sweet thing.
Had I been there, seen and known
There is a chance
You would have found a home.
I would have given you aid:
A place to stay
Where food would have been plentiful.
You never would have melted away,
And, Snowflake, I would have
Given you a name.
